e end every year with guilt and start a new year with resolution of hitting the gym regularly and sobering down. Fitness industry is the biggest benefactor of this drama. Gym memberships, fitbit, zumba classes suddenly but timely start floating out with hard to resist offers. Don’t you feel being part of a big conspiracy theory? And then in few weeks, we are tired of traveling to gym and counting calories.

Really we do not need all this spectacle.

Fitness is not an ordeal. Being fit is simple. For long bollywood celebrities, fitness centers have led us to believe that to be fit you need machines, instruments, travel to fitness centers. Baloney! All you need is your body to train your body – no fancy machines or equipments. Training by bodyweight have been used for generations till fitness centers started brainwashing us.
Start these simple yet powerful exercises today. These I consider as the hallmark of any good exercise program. I personally have been practicing for the last 20 years.

1. Squats
2. Lunges
3. Pushups
4. Pullups
5. Dips
6. Bridge

You don’t need tedious calorie counting. Eat everything with large variety, eat frequently, eat controlled portions. Limit your intake of processed food, things made with sugar and saturated fat. Have mostly home cooked food.

Rest adequately. Sleep 7 – 8 hours a day. Nap in between for 30 minutes if possible for best mental and physical health.

Drink 2 – 3 litres of water per day.
